Case Study - Staffordshire Build
The first Svenskhomes self-build project is underway with delivery taking place the end of August. With the foundations completed and the essential visit by UK Building Control carried out, building work was ready to commence the last week in September.
This will be a long awaited and deserved home and whilst this is a family project the bulk of the construction work has been carried out by Jeremy leaving Michelle and the children to take care of all of the farming needs.
Distress calls have been few and far between and when we spoke with Jeremy today he felt that things are going very well including the new found muscles he has acquired.
The weather has been very wet over the last couple of weeks but the intention is to have the building water tight by the weekend of 12th December. Once the building is water tight everyone can take a much deserved break for Christmas.
We will keep posting updates and progress photographs as we receive them but if you are considering a self-build project and would like to learn more about the Svenskhomes range of buildings please do not hesitate to give us a call.
Photo 1 - September shows foundation and base frame including floor joists have been installed. The 2 outer walls to the side of the building have been constructed and put in place. The front and rear outer walls have been constructed and are laying on the floor joists ready for lifting into place.
Photo 2 - looking onto the front and right side of the building with the external walls on the ground floor constructed and installed.
Photo 3 - looking down and into the building from the rear of the building, the external an internal walls have been installed. If you look into the centre of the building you can see the inner hallway.
Photo 4 - shows the same aspect as photo 2 – the counter membrane (white breather paper) and the steel wind bracing strips have been installed. Logging around the building can now begin.
Photo 5 - December – Logging has begun and as you can see has been completed up to the start of the first floor.
